Google’s Android and the Mobile Applications
November 13, 2007
What is Android you might ask, it is a mobile platform developed by Google, it is new and its different from other mobile platform because it is an open mobile platform(open source operating system for mobile) unlike Windows Mobile, Apple's iPhone, wherein any handset manufacturer with membership with Open Handset Alliance can use it. That means that if a software developer made a software for this platform, it can run on 30 different handset(the number will increase for sure as more vendors join Open Handset Alliance)
Watch the video below to give you an idea of what to come.
An early look on what to expect to expect when it hits the market.
Here's what we know the software will support out of the box:
- Touchscreen
- 3G
- Webkit-based browser
- Optimized Java runtime layer (known as Dalvik Virtual Machine)
- Threaded text messaging
- MPEG-4, h.264, MP3, and AAC file formats
- Accelerated 3D graphics
